Deformation properties of the left ventricular myocardium in arterial hypertension: modern approaches and diagnostic significance
Abstract
Arterial hypertension is a widely prevalent condition affecting millions of people worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) data, in 2021, more than 1 billion people suffered from hypertension. The WHO predicts that this number will continue to rise due to lifestyle changes and an aging population. Early diagnosis of hypertension is crucial for its effective control and the prevention of serious consequences. In recent years, the deformation properties of the left ventricle of the heart have been actively studied for the purpose of early diagnosis of hypertension and the assessment of the effectiveness of antihypertensive therapy (AHT). The left ventricle of the heart plays a key role in pumping blood into the systemic arteries. Deformation properties of the left ventricle, such as global longitudinal strain (GLS) and global longitudinal strain rate (GLSR), have become the focus of research in the context of early diagnosis of arterial hypertension.
