Abstract

Aim. To provide cardiologists with up-to-date information on inotropic agents used in the treatment of acute decompensated heart failure.
Materials and Methods. A systematic literature review on the selected topic was conducted using Google Scholar and PubMed. The text was edited with the assistance of the artificial intelligence system ChatGPT developed by OpenAI to improve readability, followed by final verification by the authors.
Results. Inotropic drugs include both classical cardiac glycosides, currently experiencing a “renaissance, and well-known inotropic agents such as dobutamine, levosimendan, and milrinone. New pharmacological agents, including vericiguat and omecamtiv mecarbil, are also discussed separately.
Conclusion. Inotropic agents are important medications used in the management of patients with decompensated heart failure.
